       I was making more money than I ever have in my life and next thing you know, my family heard “I’m quitting and going to be working for the summer without getting paid for it”. My courage to take the leap was not found overnight and it wasn’t done simply on a whim. My only question during hours and hours of preparation was how can I make this happen? 

Lets back up a moment and figure out why I wanted to quit this “perfect job”

During this time of my life, yes, I was making more money than I ever was. Yes, I loved the work I was doing. Yes, I had great coworkers and friends outside of work that encouraged me. Yes, I was set to retire at the great age of 50 if nothing else changed. Did I feel fulfilled? No. How could I have so many great “yes’s” and only one No? That one No was astronomical to my overall wellbeing and this situation made me feel silly since I had a life that people would have traded for yet, I didn’t want anything to do with it. 

Thus began a journey of trying to figure out what made me truly fulfilled, months before I quit my job. During this time I had some money saved up which would act as insurance to get me a flight back to my home town, feed me, and give me some time to find a job. Worst case scenario was I go back to living exactly how I was. It didn’t seem like there was a lot to lose but there was everything to gain. Over the next 3 months I didn’t have to spend any money, not even a dime. The situation I placed myself in was something I thought I could only dream about.
